Here are some of the deals I found there. I only bought four because that was all that was on the shelves. I bought one for each girl since I had two coupons. I think for some reason I ended up paying for one of these since it appears that it took 3. Not sure what other combination I should have done to make them all free. I bought 4 sets since I had 2 coupons. This ended up with them being 1. This ended up costing.

They are about the size of small sub rolls. They picked gelatin, for which I paid. These are the highlights of my trip. I also picked up a salad dressing, some Zatarains, paper towels, and Eggos. There were a few items I would not have normally bought, like the gelatin, but I figured that was an inexpensive reward for my kids helping me find everything at the store without asking me a million times to buy other stuff not on my list. The sale goes on through Sunday.

Work samples from the school year. Here is a sample of work that was done that year by some of my students. Cut up sentences are one of my favorite things to do in kindergarten. If you take a look at the picture above the words have all been cut off the bottom and glued onto the top of the paper. At the beginning of the year the sentences start off in order. As the year progresses the sentences become scrambled and more complex.

Decorate a shoe box to look like a bed using fabric, scissors, and a hot glue gun. When not in use the teddy bears can be stored inside the shoe box. Introduce this re-telling activity to the class during whole group time. Have students help you re-tell the rhyme by removing the bears from the bed as you sing the rhyme.

Once the students have learned the rhyme place the activity in a center and encourage the children to re-tell the rhyme using the bed and the bears at a center. Write the numbers on the stomach of 10 teddy bear accents with a Sharpie. Attach the teddy bear accents to tongue depressors with glue or tape. She is gaining phonemic awareness as she plays with words, she is learning vocabulary when I explain words like broth, fleece, fiddle and curds and whey. She is starting to sing some of the rhymes and she echoes the inflection of our voices as we emphasize different parts of the rhymes. Nursery Rhymes are part of our culture and I think it is important for children to experience them. In Kindergarten these rhymes can be used to enhance early reading skills in lots of ways.

While I new what phonological awareness was and how to teach the different aspects of it, I spent more time pushing letter and individual sound recognition and less time counting words in a sentence, segmenting and blending syllables, onset-rime, alliteration, and rhyming.

The students look through and find the ones that they know how to do or the ones that they want to try. Almost all of the activities were made using the File Folder teacher resource books. A few were made using graphics software, and some were made using Ellison die-cuts. We have a central mailbox in which each student has their own mail slot. The desk is stocked with scrap paper, stamps, and cards. The mailbox is made from a wine box that I covered with contac paper and set on its side.

The dividers that are built into the box to keep the bottles from breaking make perfect mail slots for us. Each slot is labeled with a student’s name. Right now we have the 3 Billy Goats Gruff up there. I photocopy blackline pictures onto cardstock and have the aide color them with markers. Then they’re laminated and cut out. To make them stick to the flannelboard, I hotglue pieces of sandpaper to the back of them.

I know that most of you still have many more weeks of summer vacation, but being a bit compulsive I was always thinking, and planning and shopping and making things for the next year. As soon as the carpet was cleaned and the custodians finished in my room I was ready to start pushing around furniture and getting ready for the new crop of kids. I loved the freedom to stop into my classroom for an hour or so, and then leave and go do something else. The problem was that once I stopped in to school it was hard for me to leave!

Anyway, I just wanted to share some ideas for labeling your classroom. I found out what a tremendous difference it makes when you are encouraging or expecting children to put away materials.

Labyrinter är ett enkelt sätt att öva finmotorik samtidigt med logiskt tänkande! Laminera och använd whiteboardpenna så kan barnen använda labyrinten om och om igen.

Creating the Block Center This post is part 2 of a series of posts about learning centers. This post will focus on the block center. I have repeated the general guidelines for setting up centers from the initial post. If you would like to read about creating an art center, then click here. Setting up Learning Centers Organizing, developing, and carrying out centers is an extremely complex task and one made of up many layers. When the work is put in up front and centers are well thought out and planned for, they can run smoothly and offer great academic, social-emotional, and developmental value to an early childhood classroom.

These are a few of the resources I have used over the years to assist me in implementing learning centers with young children. General Guidelines for Learning Centers Organize Using Appropriate and Engaging Materials Every learning center should contain materials that are displayed in a neat organized and attractive manner. Materials should be on display on low, open shelves that are within reach of the child. Materials, activities, and equipment should be stored in their own containers.

Label each storage container with both a picture and words written in the correct mix of capital and lowercase letters.
